Stuart J. Mitchell has been honored with the Pathstone Visionary Award for his 40 years of leadership of the community development and human resource organization.
Mitchell is president and CEO of Rochester-based PathStone Corp., formerly known as Rural Opportunities Inc., and has been with the organization since its creation. He has been the top executive since 1977.
In a proclamation recognizing Mitchell, Monroe County Legislators Jeffrey Adair and Paul Haney said that under Mitchell’s leadership, “PathStone has served more than 30,000 participants, promoting social justice through advocacy, in pursuit of strengthening families’ economic well-being.”
PathStone assists farm workers and low-income families in New York, six other states and Puerto Rico.
Mitchell was feted at PathStone’s Vision for the Future community luncheon on Wednesday at the Rochester Plaza Hotel.
