Sheila Banks
Ms. Banks was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania, and she continues to reside there. Formerly a housing assistant with Crispus Attucks Community Development Corporation, she was promoted to certified property manager with the Corporation. Sheila continues to be employed by Crispus Attucks Association as a data and information specialist with the pregnant and parenting teen program. Ms. Banks was also employed with PathStone for thirteen years as a project assistant, a receptionist, and a farmworker services coordinator. Prior to holding these positions, she was employed by the City of York Human Relations Commission as an administrative assistant. Ms. Banks serves on the Governing Board of the Tabernacle CMA Church and also serves as assistant minister of music. Ms. Banks is a former member of York Spanish-American Association Board of Directors and People of Color Board for Domestic Violence. She has a son and a daughter and is also the proud grandmother of 9 grandsons. Ms. Banks holds a four year certificate in pastoral theology and a “1 REM” property management certification. She enjoys singing, reading, listening to music and writing songs in her free time. Following her employment tenure with PathStone, she wanted to remain involved in changing farmworkers’ lives, which motivated her to participate on ROHC of PA, Farmworkers Housing Corp. of PA and the PathStone Board of Directors.
Paul Baker
Mr. Baker was born and raised in Niagara County, NY and today continues to live in Niagara County in Lewiston, NY. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in applied economics and business management from Cornell University and a Masters of Business Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He comes from a family that has very strong roots in agriculture, so it comes as no surprise that agriculture has always been a central interest in his life Mr. Baker has extensive experience as both owner and general manager of several different family owned farming enterprises, has worked as a professor’s assistant at his alma mater, Cornell University, worked for a short time as a marketing consultant at Verizon, and he has served on the boards of both the New York Apple Association and the International Apple Institute. In 2002, even though he decided to sell the family farming business, he did not lose touch with agriculture for long as he accepted a position as the Agricultural Advisor to the NYS Senate for one year. He now is able to draw from his agricultural and governmental experience to serve as Executive Director of both Agricultural Affiliates and the New York State Horticultural Society. His close connection to agriculture and the supervision of seasonal agricultural labor are what brought him to become involved with PathStone. He truly enjoys being able to further serve the community to which he is so strongly
April Colson
April was born in Monroe, Louisiana and grew up in the small town of Baskin. She currently lives in Kent, New York where she works as a Sales associate and assistant manager for Peebles. Ms. Colson has had several past occupations due to her desire to learn. She has worked as a bartender for 20 years, a home health aide and she was in the United States Navy. She is also the CEO of (S) Corp called Cajun Creation Corporation. April has four children, Brian, Keith, Raven and Derek and three grandchildren, Brian Jr., Kira and Micha. She enjoys volunteering, playing with her children and cooking. April was helped by PathStone to get a home for her family. This inspired her to spread PathStones message. “Since my induction onto all of the boards I represent, I have learned so much, my passion to do well for all increased 10 fold, and I only want to help educate more individuals on the opportunities PathStone offers.”
B.K Gaur
B.K Gaur was born in New Delhi, India but currently lives in Rochester, New York. He is a proud father to his very accomplished son and daughter. He currently hold several degrees, including a PhD and a M.S. B.K has had past jobs as a senior scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Center and also worked in the International Atomic Energy Agency in Bogotá, Columbia. He is currently a case manager for Senior Community Service Employment Program. Dr. Gaur learned about PathStone from a former colleague and present PathStone employee. In addition to his work at PathStone, B.K enjoys relating science with religion and helping seniors.
Melissa Hoover
Mrs. Hoover was born and raised in Queens, NY. She currently lives in Lansford, PA with her husband Dominick and their two young children Christopher and Trinity. In addition to her work on the board, she is actively involved with her communities Headstart program. Melissa in currently in pursuit in achieving her associates degree in nursing. Mrs. Hoover enjoys spending time with her family and floral design. Her desire to be involved in her children’s education and the well-being of her community members, inspired her to join PathStone. “I think PathStone has a great mission and I am proud to serve on the board and be associated with such a wonderful organization.”
Monica Huerta
Monica was born in Greensville, Ohio but grew up in several different places. Such places include Florida, Texas and Michigan. She currently resides in Union City, Indiana where she is employed by Cooper Farms as an assistant. Ms. Huerta has past experience in the agriculture industry. After her own experience working in a migrant camp in Fremat, Ohio, Monica learned about PathStone from other people. This inspired her to become a volunteer. She is a proud mother of her four children, Lynda, Zach, Araceli and Oscar and a grandmother of her granddaughter Enaly. Ms. Huerta enjoys baking and decorating cakes for several occasions. She has loves to spend time with her family which includes eight brothers and sisters. Being on the board for six years has allowed her to gain knowledge and experience. “Every meeting just motivates me more to go back to my community and make it better.”
Michael Joiner
Michael was born in Gainsville, FL and currently lives in Chambersburg, PA. He is a father of one daughter Shenea and a grandfather to his grandson Justin. Before working as Processing assistant to Ventura Foods, Michael worked as an asphalt technician and highway construction. Michael has a wide variety of interest. These include going to church, weight lifting, reading and talking to kids in his area. In his year and a half of service to PathStone, Michael has been a successful representative of Franklin County. He hopes to expand PathStone to more states in the future.
William Kilgore
Mr. Kilgore was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, raised in Pennsylvania and currently resides in Alliance, OH. He learned about our organization through his involvement in other housing advocacy organizations in the community. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Psychology. Currently employed as a sales associate for AFLAC, he has also worked as a city building inspector, a contracts administrator for the US Department of Energy, a licensed electrical contractor and a housing inspector. In addition, he has experience serving on the Alliance City Rehabilitation Board, the Stark County Fair Housing Board and the State Governance team. Mr. Kilgore is married and has five adult children and nine grandchildren. His hobbies include sports and reading. He is also an ordained deacon in his church.
Sister Mary Augustine Malley
Sister Mary Augustine Malley was born and rained in Rochester, New York. She has live in Rochester her whole life and continues to this day. Before joining us at PathStone, she worked as a teacher, she was a chaplain at St. James Mercy Hospital and also volunteered as a driver and caregiver to an elderly citizen. Sister Malley holds a master’s degree in Biology from the University of Notre Dome. In addition to her work at PathStone, she enjoys knitting and doing word puzzles. She says one of her reasons of joining the board was that she was impressed with the philosophy and mission of PathStone.
Tina Manley
Tina Manley was born in Lyons, New York and currently resides in Wolcott, NY where she grew up. She has a variety of past experiences such as Factory work, home health aide and truck and forklift driver. She is a mother of two boys and a grandmother of one grandson. Tina spends her time enjoying arts and crafts and working of trucks. Ms. Manely learned about PathStone after her training program for her COLA license. She enjoys helping people and believes that farm workers should start to be recognized.
Evan Martinez
Mr. Martinez was born in Reynosa, Mexico, grew up in McAllen, Texas and currently resides in Celina, Ohio with his wonderful wife and his 4 sons and 2 daughters. He started working as a migrant farmworker in 1990. He then worked for a bit as a pickle picker until he decided to return to school. Upon graduating and receiving a certificate in Automotive Technology, he become an assistant manager at AutoZone, a job that he held for 6 years until he recently seized an opportunity to return to the farm by accepting a supervisor position at Rohrs Brothers Farms. Mr. Martinez learned about PathStone and its programs though the director the local PathStone office. In addition to his work with PathStone, he has been involved in the community as Cub Master of a local Cub Scouts pack in McAllen, Texas. He enjoys working with people, reading, listening to music and walking. Evan looks forward to continuing to provide great programs to great community people.
María Teresa Díaz Mendoza
María has moved around a lot only to call Hartville, OH home. She was born in Mexicali B.C, Mexico but raised in Baja, CA. After attending cosmetology school in Mexico, she returned to California with her husband. Before working on a farm, she worked in a beauty salon in Mexico and also a supermarket chain. In 2001, she heard about PathStone from her brother-in-law. PathStone then helped her with several things, including doctor visits and legal help. María was the president of the parent committee in Texas Migrant in Hartville and was also a representative of the Ohio Migrant Center. She enjoys meeting new people, listening to music and playing soccer with her four children. “I want to extend appreciation to PathStone for the help it provides to all people who need this help and we hope it will continue with all the programs that help our communities. Thank you, PathStone”
Patricia Mogan
Ms. Mogan was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in Delaware County, PA. She currently lives in Halifax, Pennsylvania outside of Harrisburg. She holds a BA in Mathematics, an MA in Theology and an MBA with concentration in Nonprofit Management. Prior to becoming involved with PathStone, she worked as a teacher of both math and religion at the high school level, a nonprofit administrator, executive director and an adjunct faculty member at Eastern University. She also has extensive experience serving on boards of several different nonprofit agencies, church groups and the Homeowner’s Association. She currently finds employment with the Pennsylvania Association of Nonprofit Organizations. Ms. Mogan has five siblings and enjoys work, playing piano, reading and the outdoors.
Joy Pacheco
Joy Pacheco was born on the west coast in Los Angeles, California and grew up in Rochester, New York. Founding and owning inSource, Inc., Joy has spent the last seven years running it as well as working in Payment Processings. Prior to inSource Inc., Joy worked over 14 years in Cash Management Sales and Product Management at several major regional and international banks. Before working in banks, Joy worked in advertising. Joy attended Duquesne University and is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Joy currently resides in Rochester, New York with her husband and their daughter. Joy is an active member of her community serving on many community boards including the Community Coalition Initiatives and Actions CCIA (Co-Founder and Board Member), the Rochester Prostate Cancer Community Coalition RPCCC (present member), the YMCA Achievers Program (Steering Committee 1995-2005), and The Anthony Jordan Community HealthCare Center (Steering Committee Co-Chair 1999). In her free time she enjoys running, playing the guitar, and collecting art and pottery. Joy learned about PathStone through board member Read McNamara and enjoys the opportunity to work with a diverse team to achieve common goals.
Andrés Ramos
Andrés was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where he still currently lives. He is a self-employed flower grower. He and his wife have two sons and a daughter. Before being invited to join the board by a friend, Andrés worked as a newspaper agent, in a supermarket chain and also worked in pharmaceuticals. He enjoys reading, walking and planting. With his experience in The Gazei Corporation in Castañer, Puerto Rico, Andrés is an important part to the board.
William Roberts
William was born in Massachusetts and grew up in Vermont where he currently resides. He has past experience in farming and presently works for Via Cheese. It was his wife, who is a current employee of PathStone, who inspired William to join the board. Mr. Roberts and his wife have one child and three dogs. In addition to his work for PathStone, William enjoys snowmobiling, fishing and hunting.
Virgen Dinelia Torres Robles
Virgen lives in Puerto Rico with her three children and husband where she was born. However, she lived in Trenton, NJ and Wisconsin for many years. She currently owns her out ambulatory food business. Before serving on PathStones board, Virgen served in school S.U Saltos, Orocovis Puerto Rico. After learning about PathStone two years ago, they helped her become trained as a barber and also helped Virgen get her ambulatory food business. Virgen hopes to be able to be someone in the future with PathStone.
Amalia Rodríguez
Amalia was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She currently resides in Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico with her four children. She earned her B.A in secretarial science and used her skills working as an office clerk and receptionist. Amalia also worked as a caregiver to the elderly and persons with dementia and Alzheimer’s. In addition to her participation with PathStone, Amalia enjoys going on trip with her children, listening to music and also volunteering at Head Start. She also helps her community improve its landscaping and helps with her children’s schools. “we joined PathStone and we are part of PAAC because we want to help others the same way PathStone helped us by bringing to each person the message that we can and that we only need a hand to be able to go forward and achieve our dreams.”
Mark St. John
Mr. St. John was born and raised in Martinsville, Indiana and currently lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs and a Master’s of Public Administration, both from Indiana University. His professional experience includes serving as a district executive for the Boy Scouts of America, a program consultant and grants coordinator for the Indiana Department of Human Services, manager of community housing development programs for the Indiana Housing Finance Authority, executive assistant at the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration, management of HIV/AIDS agencies and executive director of the Indiana Coalition on Housing and Homeless Issues. He is the owner of Lambda Consulting, a governmental affairs and non-profit management consulting business. An interest in affordable housing and a connection to farmworkers through previous work as an inspector of farmworker housing are what brought him to become involved in PathStone.
Eileen Torres
Eileen Torres was born in Kittery, Maine and grew up in Western New York where she currently resides with her husband, and three children. Eileen holds an MS in Bilingual/Multicultural Education and has worked for PathStone coordinating adult education programs and with Migrant Head Start. She now works as the Director of Program Operations for Agri-Business Child Development in Rochester, New York. This is her first experience serving on a community board, and she says that she loves being an PathStone board member. In her spare time, Eileen enjoys exercising, kick boxing, aerobics and personal training.
Keith Talbot
Mr. Talbot was born and raised in Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley. He lives with his wife Lori and son William in New Jersey. Keith currently works as an attorney for the Legal services of New Jersey Farm worker Project and Workers Legal Rights Project. Prior to his farm worker advocacy, Keith worked to improve low income Appalachian housing and advocacy. He received in Bachelor’s degree in community planning; his Master’s in social work and also holds a Law degree from the University of Richmond. In addition to Keiths involvement in PathStone, he has supported farm working organizations and been involved in national leadership and diversity committee for legal services. Keith enjoys writing folk music, poetry and attending Quaker meetings.
Velma Wright
Ms. Wright was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Saugerties, New York. A Board member for 33 years, she has been involved with PathStone since her first visit to a migrant camp in 1966. Throughout her tenure she has participated on numerous committees and has served as the Chairperson of the Board of Directors. She has an associate’s degree in sociology and is a few credits short of a BA. Velma states that her life experience and training are equal to any degree she might have obtained. Her professional experiences includes the development and operation of a food stamp outreach program, an emergency assistance program, a program for special youth, an emergency program for the homeless, a child care center, and a mediation program. Her most recent position of eight years was as area supervisor for Green Thumb of New York. She was also the Director of Outreach Services for Ulster County Community Action for twenty-one years and Assistant Director of a Day Care Center for Migrant and Seasonal Farmworkers. She is now retired. She is the mother of four daughters and one son and is the grandmother of one grandson. Ms. Wright enjoys music, puzzles, and reading in her free time. She was presented the PathStone Farmworker Advocacy Hall of Fame Award in 1997 and the PathStone Board Joe Allen Service Award in 2000.
